This is a friendly email to say hello and remind you of the second (and last for 2014 on Oahu) Ceeds of Peace workshop, this coming Saturday – November 15th. NEW & IMPROVED LOCATION – University of Hawaii, West Oahu campus at 91-1001 Farrington Highway in Kapolei – very easy to find. Located just off H-1, only 25-30 minutes from Honolulu. This is not a big campus like UH Manoa – there are only 5 main buildings so you won’t get lost! We are in the new Multi-Purpose Room on the 2nd floor of the Campus Center (building C) – just a few steps from the parking lot. Elevator and stairs to get to the 2nd floor. Air conditioning and good chairs for comfort! PARKING – Visitor Lot A is easy to find – enter the campus and veer right at the grassy round-about (driving circle) and the parking lot will be on your right. Park in any stall that does not say “permit required” (there are many open stalls). Walk across the road you just drove in on, to the Campus Center and go to 2nd floor. The Association for Conflict Resolution is seeking a dynamic and creative Executive Director to lead and enhance the organization. He or she will: Work closely with an active Board of Directors Have a key role in being responsive to the needs of membership, fundraising, securing the financial sustainability of the organization, web-administration, Conference planning, and development of budgets and resources Other duties include membership outreach, implementing programming/services for members, developing field-wide partnerships, working with ACR’s Sections and Chapters, and carrying out the day to day operations of the organization. On October 15, 2014 Kirsten Rosa, assisted by Katie Ranney, presented Technology Tools for Collaborative Dialogue, a free webinar held at the Mediation Center of the Pacific (MCP) and cosponsored by ACR Hawaii, the Mastunaga Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, MCP, and the Hawaii State Bar Association ADR Section. Transformative Dialogue is a unique way of working with communities experiencing conflict. Its goal is to change the quality of interactions between members in the community and help community members decide for themselves what to do about their situation. Organized by the Association for Conflict Resolution, this teleconference will explore the following questions: How is the process of a Transformative Dialogue defined? Is there a role for problem-solving in Transformative Dialogue? What does a Transformative Dialogue facilitator do that differs from others who facilitate community-based interventions?
