The Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center hosts a free talk on Third Thursdays in the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney at 655 Kilauea Avenue in Hilo.
This month’s speaker is Kimberly Dark on the topic “Handling Unconscious Bias: Our Own and Others’.”
“While seeking racial justice and working toward fair and equitable interactions, it’s important to see our own unconscious biases,” says Dark. “These unconscious ‘default settings’ can get in the way of enacting our own beliefs and values.”
In this talk, learn tips to recognize, acknowledge, and work with your own and others’ deeply engrained stereotypes and how to kindly help when others are acting upon them.
