THE FACT INTENSIVE CONTROVERSY by Peter Adler

Ku'ikahi Mediation Center 101 Aupuni Street, Suite PH 1014 B-2, Hilo

As part of our “Collaborative Planning & Problem-Solving” Training Series, Ku’ikahi Mediation Center presents THE FACT INTENSIVE CONTROVERSY. Facilitated by Peter Adler, this 1/2-day training takes place from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm in Hilo. “Most of us were taught that a ‘fact’ is something proven through scientific, legal, or rules-of-logic reasoning.  Once established, facts are supposed to be incontrovertible until something new is shown to be valid,” says Dr. Adler.  “In some ways, nothing is a fact until we agree it’s a fact or a credible authority says so.”  This workshop will offer approaches to working with different assertions of ‘the truth’ for purpose of negotiation and problem solving.  Recommended for legal, technical, and scientific experts—or people who rely on them—and who must engage counterparts on difficult problems.  Tuition is $55 for one workshop or $99 for both (see above). Individual needs-based partial scholarships available. REGISTER ONLINE at https://peteradler043020.eventbrite.com. Or contact Majidah at 935-7844 x 3 or email majidah@hawaiimediation.org.

THE MULTI-PARTY POLICY PROBLEM by Peter Adler

Ku'ikahi Mediation Center 101 Aupuni Street, Suite PH 1014 B-2, Hilo

As part of our “Collaborative Planning & Problem-Solving” Training Series, Ku’ikahi Mediation Center presents THE MULTI-PARTY POLICY PROBLEM. Facilitated by Peter Adler, this 1/2-day training takes place from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm in Hilo. “This workshop focuses on politically contentious planning and regulatory conflicts that often have communities, government agencies, and businesses at loggerheads and too often result in political gridlock or litigation,” says Dr. Adler.  “The focus of this workshop is on organizing, designing, and managing complex problem solving processes; engaging in constructive interchange; and producing policy ‘impacts.’”  Recommended for individuals who work in government, business, and community affairs and must interact with others to prevent, manage, or resolve disagreements. Tuition is $55 for one workshop or $99 for both (see below). Individual needs-based partial scholarships available. REGISTER ONLINE at https://peteradler043020.eventbrite.com.
