Free Brown Bag Lunch Series “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” in Hilo Hosted by Ku’ikahi Mediation Center “I’ve been playing with the idea of a new definition of ‘PTSD’—Post Traumatic Strength & Development!” says Tim. “How do we evolve and grow stronger as a result of traumatic events in our lives? As my mother used to tell me, ‘What doesn’t destroy you makes you stronger.’ This can be true in our own lives.” In this talk, learn how Restorative Justice offers some ways to make healing a reality in the aftermath of crime. Tim Hansen, LCSW, has worked with victims, offenders, and communities for over 30 years. He holds an MSW from UH-Manoa and a BA in Psychology and Speech/Theatre Arts from the University of Minnesota-Winona. He is Restorative Justice Program Manager at Hawai‘i County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney and has been adjunct faculty at UH-Hilo in the Sociology and Political Science Departments. Free Brown Bag Lunch Series “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” in Hilo Hosted by Ku’ikahi Mediation Center “Forgiveness is an integral part of life and a major contributor to inner peace and happiness. Think of the golden rule: do unto others as you want done unto you,” says Dellaria. “Forgiveness is a part of the golden rule. It starts with kindness, and then leads to forgiveness, gratitude, and deep listening.” In this talk, learn insights into the what, why, and who of forgiveness and open up to awareness in dialogue. Janet Dellaria, PhD earned her doctorate in Leadership Studies from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX. She has a BA in Mathematics and a MLS in Library Science. Her professional career centered around libraries in the university and private systems. She is a world traveler and spends most of her time between Hilo and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Dellaria is a professional trained volunteer mediator at Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center.
